My advice is to never do tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination is a thief of time.

Charles Dickens

Procrastination is the habit of a person to postpone important matters, under the pretext that there is simply no time for it at the moment.

Reasons for procrastination

  • don’t like work
  • incorrect prioritization
  • lack of life goals
  • lack of time planning and working hours
  • lack of knowledge, skills, abilities
  • inability to make decisions
  • fears and phobias
  • perfectionism

What to do with procrastination?

  • to realize that many other people also suffer from procrastination
  • start with simple and pleasant things, gradually moving to complex ones
  • give yourself a short rest
  • find out the reason for your procrastination
  • engage in a routine instead of laziness – order around will help to put your thoughts in order
  • choose an incentive award
  • implement daily rituals

Sometimes, perhaps, you really don’t need to do something that hangs over you like a sword of Damocles and you should look the other way, change something.

Anti-Procrastination Day is celebrated on September 6.

We are used to hearing about procrastination as an evil and the need to fight this phenomenon. But…

Benefits of procrastination:

  • warns of fatigue, exhaustion, burnout
  • lets you hear yourself
  • an indicator of the need for changes in life
  • shows that “not yours”
  • prevents perfectionism
  • increases creativity
  • helps to set priorities

…but on the condition that you listen to your feelings, strive to improve your life, analyze the situation.

In general, everything is not so bad. Procrastination is sometimes useful. However, it is often the cause of failure.
