World Scleroderma Day

World Scleroderma Day is celebrated on June 29 in order to encourage people to take care of themselves and others.

What is Scleroderma?

Scleroderma is a dangerous autoimmune disease that has negative consequences for the body. Currently, the prevalence of the disease in the world is about 20 people for every 100,000. Scleroderma is dangerous because lung damage (which is about 35% of all cases) significantly increases the risk of death within the next 5 years.

Causes of Scleroderma

The causes of the disease have not yet been investigated, but heredity and the influence of external factors can play a major role:


  • Retroviruses.
  • Coal dust.
  • Some medicines.
  • Vaccination.
  • Household chemicals.

As a result of damage scleroderma the circulatory system, skin, muscles and bones, internal organs suffer. You can recognize the disease by such symptoms as vascular spasms that occur during stress. The extremities at this time acquire a pale shade, and later the skin becomes red.

  • According to statistics, scleroderma is diagnosed in women six times more often than in men, generally in working age.
