Saint Avramiy the Hardworking, of Pechersk
It is celebrated on the third of September according to the new style (August 21 according to the old style). the memory of Reverend Avramius the Industrious, of Pechersk.
Almost no information has been preserved about the origin and life of Avramius the Industrious, because he was noted for his great humility and modesty. All that is known about Paterik is that he took refuge in a monastery at the end of the 12th – beginning of the 13th centuries, showing great diligence, for which he was nicknamed the Hardworking. The monk died at the beginning of the 13th century at the age of about 50 years. Today, his relics are kept in the Near Caves of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra along with the relics of Niphont of Novgorod and Isaiah the Wonderworker of Pechersk. He was canonized in 1643 under Metropolitan Peter Mohyla. Church-wide commemoration of Abraham began in the second half of the 18th century.
