Quilting day
Every year on March 16, the world celebrates a creative holiday – Quilting day.
What is quilting? This term refers to a craft that consists in the artistic quilting and embroidery of pieces of fabric, between which a layer of wadding, tulle, etc. is inserted.
Quilted cloth existed in ancient times, then it spread in China, in the 11th – 15th centuries it reached Europe, while America got acquainted with quilted blankets in the 1620s.
Now quilting is a common hobby that consists of embroidery, appliqué, sewing and patchwork. Quilting technique many things can be made, but the most popular are pillows, blankets and bedspreads. Quilting has three types: manual, machine and combined.
