Museum Selfie Day
On the third Wednesday of January every year, the world celebrates Museum Selfie Day (Museum Selfie Day). Its recognition was first proposed in 2014 by the employees of the Culture Themes European collective. The purpose of this date is to encourage as many people as possible to learn about history and art. Those who liked this idea should visit any museum, choose the exhibit that left the most vivid impression, take a selfie with it and post a photo on social networks.
Museum workers gladly accepted this baton and organize flash mobs in many cities around the world. Some of them have even introduced prizes for the best photo. But at the same time, they remind that shooting with a photoflash damages paintings, frescoes and other masterpieces of art. This should be remembered, because future generations also have the right to enjoy the beautiful.
Rules and conditions of the “museum” selfie
- Do not use flashes when shooting (flashes can damage the quality of historical rarities).
- Do not use the received photo for political purposes.
- If you wish, you can post a picture on social networks with the caption #MuseumSelfie or you can add the hashtag of the museum institution.
By joining this initiative of the international community, you will receive a lot of positive emotions and a unique opportunity to tell your followers in the language of “selfies” about your favorite exhibit.
