Independence Day of the Republic of Sri Lanka
February 4 every year Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka celebrates his independence, which she received not so long ago, namely in 1948. Today’s name of the republic did not appear immediately: at first the country was called Ceylon (as a dominion), and already in 1972 it was named Sri Lanka, which means “Blessed Land” in Sanskrit.
The state is famous for its tea: na Sri Lankans produces a tenth of the tea of the entire planet, it ranks third after China and India. In addition, the island is famous for the production of sapphire.
The vast majority of local residents, namely 70% of the population of Sri Lanka, are Buddhists, 20% are Hindus, and 10% are representatives of other religions.
