European Breast Health Day
European Breast Health Day is celebrated on October 15. This day is celebrated every year as another date in the series of events of the “Pink October” program dedicated to the fight against cancer. Breast Health Day was started to be celebrated on the initiative of the European Coalition Against Cancer – Europa Donna. This non-profit organization was formed in 1994 by a small group of women. They aimed to increase the level of awareness of the population of the entire planet about the seriousness of cancer and the need for early diagnosis of the disease.
Now the independent organization Europa Donna unites participants from 47 European countries. Their main campaign is celebrating Breast Health Day. The event was celebrated for the first time in Milan in 2008. Also, Breast Health Day was celebrated in 2009 with the support of the outstanding Spanish tennis player Arancha Sanchez-Vicario. Now this day began to be celebrated every year.
The celebration is accompanied by charity online marathons, consultations by leading mammological experts, conversations about the dangers and means of preventing the disease. Information is distributed in popular social networks and messengers, through booklets, posters, videos, in order to reach the largest possible audience.
