Day of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine

On December 1 of every year in Ukraine, the Day of Prosecutor’s Office employees is celebrated – it is an official professional state holiday, which, however, did not become a day off. Such an event was introduced by President Leonid Kuchma on November 2, 2000, the date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On the Prosecutor’s Office” in 1991.

Even the ancient Scythians had their own legal norms, and in the 6th-4th centuries until our time, there were so-called nomophylaks in the Northern Black Sea region, who performed the functions of modern prosecutors, that is, monitored human behavior and the implementation of laws. The princely legislation of Kyivan Rus began to take shape in the 10th century.

The purpose of the holiday is to thank the employees of the prosecutor’s office and respect the role of the prosecutor’s office in protecting human rights and strengthening the rule of law. On December 1, senior management congratulates employees on their professional holiday, and the best employees receive awards, prizes, diplomas, titles, etc.
