International Day of Mathematics

Every year on March 14, a new scientific holiday is celebrated – International Day of Mathematics. The event was created by the International Mathematical Union in November 2019 at the UNESCO conference. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of International Pi Day and, in fact, the first three signs of this mathematical constant (3.14 according to the American notation system). For the first time Mathematics Day celebrated in 2020.

The slogan of the holiday in 2021 is “Mathematics for a better world”. Events are being organized until March 14, with the help of which society will learn about the important role of mathematics in weather forecasting, optimization of transport and communication networks, etc.
