Every year on the second Sunday of June, Ukraine celebrates a professional holiday – Day of textile and light industry workers. In 2021, the date of the celebration falls on June 13, and for the first time this day was celebrated on June 9, 1994.

Light industry includes 25 sub-sectors: knitted, sewing, textile (main), cotton, leather, linen, footwear, etc. In Ukraine, the formation of light industry began in the second half of the 19th century. Already in a century, this type of industry has become significant for the Ukrainian economy.
