Birthday of the film camera

Every year, the whole world celebrates February 13 Birthday of the film camera, which was patented by the brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiere in 1895. The inventors called the first film camera a cinematograph.

The Lumière brothers created a cinematograph based on a kinescope (a product of Thomas Edison), which allowed watching movies through a small window. Only one person could use a kinescope, but the brothers wanted to make a device for mass viewing of films. In addition to projection, the cinematograph is able to shoot and copy.

By the way, Louis and Auguste Lumiere paid a ransom to Thomas Edison and considered him the progenitor of cinema, because the kinescope helped create the first movie camera.

The first film in history, which is shown on the big screen, is considered to be “The Exit of the Workers from the Factory”. The premiere took place on December 28, 1895 in Paris. Despite the fact that the first films were silent and short (about 15 minutes), they caused incredible delight in the public.
