Baltic Sea Day

Every year on March 22, Latvia, Estonia, Germany and other Baltic countries celebrate an environmental holiday – Baltic Sea Day. The holiday was started in 1986. The date of the celebration is chosen in honor of the signing of the Helsinki Convention in 1974, which declares the protection of the marine environment.

Baltic Sea appeared about 15 thousand years ago, the greatest depth is 470 meters, and the average is 51 meters.

Baltic Sea Day aims to draw the attention of humanity to the preservation of the ecology of the Baltic Sea. Various environmental and scientific events are being organized until March 22.
