Since its inception in 2008, pipe smokers around the globe have begun to unite on February 20 to celebrate this unique holiday. Smoking a pipe is not about a bad habit, in fact, it is a reference to the past, traditions and our roots. Smoking a pipe is a whole subculture with its own history. Pipe – the oldest device for smoking. The oldest find indicates the invention of the pipe more than 5,000 years ago.
In Ukraine, pipe smoking was also popular, especially among the Cossacks – “good pipe” had the same meaning as “clear weapon”. In 2015, the Netherlands recognized pipe smoking as part of its national heritage. At the same time, we can understand that for many nations this is a really important part of history, which is worth honoring.
The mission of this holiday is to unite pipe smokers around the world, united by a common love of smoking, mutual respect and goodwill, and to develop connections in the world in honor of friendship and celebration of the brotherhood of pipe smokers.
Once a year, smokers around the world celebrate the noble art of pipe smoking by using their own works of art – briar or clay pipes. Smoking pipes has its own philosophy. In today’s busy world we work, take responsibility in our work, our family and in all aspects of what we do to survive and achieve something in the world. Values change very quickly, and smoking a pipe seems to ground us on the contrary, forcing us to take a step back and realize eternal values that will never go out of fashion.
