It is held every year in the second decade of September (September 10-16). adult education week. This international holiday was started in 1999 at the initiative of UNESCO, which was picked up in more than 50 countries of the world, including Ukraine. The purpose of Education Week is to draw the attention of the adult population to the fact that it is never too late to learn, and it is necessary to do it throughout life.

The European Union considers lifelong learning as a universally recognized necessity. Today, there are about 771 million illiterate adults in the world. When a person adheres only to acquired knowledge, he severely limits his possibilities. Sciences do not stand still, but constantly develop, new technologies appear. Few people will want to cooperate with specialists who do not know modern work methods.

As experience shows, there is no such thing as too much knowledge, so the organization of events in Ukraine this week is supported by official state structures – the Ministry of Education and Science and the All-Ukrainian Coordination Bureau “Adult Education of Ukraine”.
