What does “ecological Christmas” mean? What can be done to make the preparation and organization of the holiday as ecological as possible? Choose what you can do. Or what to give up.
Ecological Christmas
- A live Christmas tree instead of an artificial one (it is important that the Christmas tree was grown in a nursery or legally harvested from the forest.)
- Decorate a Christmas tree outside or buy a live one in a pot and plant it in the forest after the holidays.
- Homemade postcards and Christmas tree toys are not only environmentally friendly, but also an atmospheric and fun activity with family or friends.
- Do not succumb to pre-holiday hype, marketing manipulations and consumerism.
- Give useful gifts – refuse to give unnecessary souvenirs and attributes of the holiday. Agree with loved ones about the necessary gifts or useful goodies.
- Choose eco-packaging and eco-decor for gifts (paper instead of metal, polyethylene or plastic).
- Charity – donate to a good cause, help or give things a second life, give away things you don’t need.
- Carefully choose products for the celebration (according to the list, without excess, so as not to throw away leftovers, as useful as possible, harmless, with care for your health and those of your loved ones).
