Memorial Day of Reverend Maxim the Confessor

Every year on February 3, a Christian holiday is celebrated – Memorial Day of Reverend Maxim the Confessorwho was a famous theologian and taught at the Constantinople Higher School, led an ascetic lifestyle.

Maximus was born in 580 in the city of Constantinople, and died in Georgia in 662. The young man grew up in an aristocratic family and studied diligently. Maxim the Confessor left behind a large number of theological works: treatises, debates, explanations of prayers and liturgies, commentaries on other works, etc. Saint Maxim is the author of the theory of divine ideas, which consists in the division of logos (ideas-energies) according to the types of being.
