World knitting day
On June 14 every year, a rather young creative holiday is celebrated – World knitting day. The event was started by Daniel Landes in 2005. The celebration started in Paris, but quickly spread to many countries and cities (now more than 350 cities).
What is knitting?
Knitting is an ancient method of making various thread products. It is believed that this method of creating things existed even during the Trojan War. The following types are distinguished: fillet (mesh), knitting on knitting needles, on a fork, crochet and machine knitting.
What can be done on World Knitting Day
Until June 14, everyone who wants to can tie something with their own hands and give this thing to the needy or sell it at a charity fair. There is also an initiative to donate knitted products to people from different parts of the world. Exhibitions and clothing shows are traditionally organized.
