World Civil Defense Day

Every year, the world celebrates March 1 Civil Defense Day. The event was launched in 1990 at the initiative of the International Civil Defense Organization. The day of celebration was chosen in honor of MOTCO receiving intergovernmental status and consolidating the organization’s charter, which took place in 1972.

What is civil defense? This is a certain system of measures aimed at protecting people and material assets in the event of a man-made disaster, war or natural disaster. In addition, civil defense also includes early preparation and restoration of damaged territory after disasters.

World Civil Defense Day aims to spread public awareness of civil defense in order to prepare the civilian population for proper handling during exceptional situations, as well as to express gratitude to the service workers who protect us from disasters and to emphasize the importance of a high level of public awareness about actions in case of emergencies.
