The death of the apostle and evangelist John the Theologian

October 9 is the day when the church remembers Ivan the Theologian. The image of the holy apostle is important for believers. Ivan preached the teachings of Christ. After his sermons, great miracles happened, more and more people believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

He was next to Jesus during the Last Supper. After the execution of Christ, he sat under the cross together with the Mother of God and mourned the savior. There he heard the words addressed to him that the Virgin Mary was now his mother. So Ivan took care of Mary until her Assumption.

Like Jesus, he became a victim of betrayal. After they began to catch Christians, the apostle was arrested and taken to Rome for trial. Ivan was sentenced to death, he drank poison and survived. Cooking in boiling oil did not harm him either.

Ivan was exiled to the island of Patmos, but even there he continued to work miracles and convert new believers. After his release, he died at the age of over a hundred years.
