Prophet Samuel
The entire Orthodox community honors September 2 Prophet Samuel Memorial Day. He is considered the protector and deputy of all disadvantaged people.
Samuel lived 1146 years before Christmas. At the age of 12, he made his first prophecy, which came true. The prophet lived to a very old age, ruling the Israeli people as supreme judge. In 406, his relics were transferred from Judea to Constantinople.
September 2 is traditionally considered a holiday of men and fathers. On this day, women congratulate their partners, set the festive table and give gifts.
Folk beliefs and omens on the day of the Prophet Samuel
- Storks flying high in the sky indicate a warm autumn.
- A rich rowan crop – before frequent autumn rains.
- It will be a cold winter if the moles are already starting to insulate their nests, and the squirrels are starting to stock up.
- It is believed that on this day it is not possible to cut hair, nails and make new acquaintances.
- According to folk beliefs, a wish made on September 2 must surely come true.
- Combing your hair with a wooden comb on this day should bring you a lot of money.
