The day of acquiring the relics of Saint Seraphim of Sarovsky

It took place on August 1, 1903 acquisition of the relics of Saint Seraphim of Sarovsky. Therefore, the date of glorification of the miracle worker, which coincided with his birthday, is celebrated every year.

Seraphim of Sarov was canonized by the last Tsar of the Russian Empire, Nicholas II, after he learned about his miraculous deeds from the holy martyr Archimandrite Seraphim Chichagov.

During his lifetime, Saint Seraphim instructed his spiritual children to sincerely pray to God, do good deeds and avoid complex rules that lead to despair and spiritual sadness. Sarovsky himself led the life of an ascetic, but he instructed his students that they should not undertake impossible feats, but give people the joy and kindness of their hearts every day.
