Memorial Day of the Holy Martyr Alexander of Jerusalem
December 25 is celebrated the day of commemoration of the holy martyr Alexander of Jerusalem. Not much evidence has survived about his life. But it is known for certain that at the beginning of the 3rd century AD, Alexander served as a pastor and was a student of St. Clement of Alexandria.
After the saint bowed to the holy places in Jerusalem, he heard the Lord’s revelation. From them, Alexander learned that he should stay and become an assistant to Patriarch Narkis, and after his death lead the church.
During his ministry, he collected a large library in the Jerusalem Church, where the works of many Christian writers were presented.
After the power passed into the hands of Emperor Decius, the holy martyr Alexander was thrown into a damp prison, where he died, faithful to his convictions.
