International Week of Science and Peace

International Week of Science and Peace is celebrated annually on November 8. The International Week of Science and Peace is celebrated in the calendar week that falls on November 11. It was held for the first time at the non-governmental level in 1986, which was named the International Year of Peace by the UN. Its organizers were satisfied with the results of the first attempt, so in 1988 the UN General Assembly passed a resolution according to which the holiday was given official status.

The annual holding of such a week is considered by its organizers to be an important contribution to the cause of establishing peace in the world. Scientific conferences, lectures, seminars and other events make it possible to spread information about the possibility of maintaining security thanks to the development of scientific and technical progress. They also raise the level of awareness of people who are not directly related to science, but seek to develop their knowledge in various fields.

Every year, a larger number of scientists, public figures, students and other people who care about security issues in the world take part in the celebration. This expands the possibilities of cooperation between representatives of many countries in the use of science in order to further ensure peace.
