International Day of the Operating Nurse

February 15, since 2009, people all over Europe celebrate Day of honoring the operating room nurse. The initiative of the European Association of Nurses to create a professional holiday was positively received, so the holiday is actively celebrated today.

A nurse in the operating room is not only the help and support of the surgeon, seemingly the main person during the operation, but also support and attention to every detail. A professional of this specialty must have a sufficient level of knowledge in all sections of medicine, as well as psychology, quick reaction and satisfactory physical form. A nurse in the operating room is an assistant and support of the surgeon, she sets the rhythm of the work and creates the necessary conditions for the master’s work. She is also responsible for providing first aid, communicating with the patient’s relatives, preparing the patient for surgery and post-operative care.
