International day of dissemination of information about food loss and food waste

Starting from September 29, 2019, the world celebrates International Food Loss and Food Waste Awareness Day. This day was launched on the initiative of the UN General Assembly as a measure to raise public awareness of the importance of this problem and ways to solve it. The idea is to halve food waste per capita by 2030. The purpose of this program is to improve and optimize the food industry, distribution and distribution of food in the world.

Reducing food loss and waste can:

  • provide better access to food to the most vulnerable segments of the world’s population;
  • reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
  • reducing the load on water and land resources;
  • increasing productivity and economic growth.

Striving for waste-free use of food products is the main task set by the UN General Assembly before the world society.
