Independence Day of the Republic of Peru

Annually on July 28 Peru celebrates its own independence day, because it was on this day in 1821 that General Don José San Martín proclaimed the complete independence of the republic from Spain and proudly raised the flag in the capital square. By the way, the design of the Peruvian flag was dreamed up by San Martin during the liberation expedition.

The country of Peru is located in South America, washed by the Pacific Ocean. The population is about 30 million people. The capital and largest city is Lima. There are two official languages: Spanish and Quechua. Peruvians actively export coffee, fish, wool, lead, oil and others.

Peru’s Independence Day lasts two days: July 28 and 29 (in honor of the Peruvian military). The beginning of the celebration is the raising of the national flag and the president’s address to the people. Then there is a large-scale military parade, street festivals, fairs, holiday concerts, fireworks, etc. are organized.
