Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
August 14 Independence is celebrated by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The country gained its sovereignty in 1947. After 9 years, the constitution came into force, which declared the dominion of Great Britain as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In the Muslim world, Pakistan became the first republic in which Islam is the state religion. The last governor-general of the dominion, Iskander Mirza, assumed the post of president of the republic.
Now about Pakistan more often you can hear not quite happy and pleasant news. The country has a difficult economic situation, corruption and terrorism flourish, violence against women. But regardless of this, several little-known and interesting facts can be highlighted:
- Few people know that more than 50% of all soccer balls in the world are made in Pakistan, although the most popular sports here are cricket and field hockey.
- There are young talents in the country: the youngest winner of the Nobel Prize is the Pakistani girl Malala Yousafzai, and the young genius Shofan Thobani got a job at Microsoft at the age of eight.
Preparing Pakistan for Independence Day in advance: city streets are decorated with national symbols, ribbons and flags. Sovereignty is celebrated with festive parades, a solemn march in national costumes, entertainment, a solemn changing of the guard at the Mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and fireworks.
