Dollar’s birthday

Every year on April 1 own birthday marks the dollar, because it was on this day in 1778 that Oliver Pollock invented the dollar sign, taking as a model the abbreviation of the coins of Spain. At that time, Spanish pesos were distributed in America. However, according to another version, the dollar sign was taken specifically from the coat of arms, again, of Spain.

  • It is interesting that the symbol dollars is written before the amount ($50), unlike most other currency symbols.
