Apology Day

Every year, many countries celebrate an unusual holiday – Apology Day or Pardon Day (Pardon Day). The concept of “pardon” itself has a legal connotation and is defined as exemption from punishment for an offense by an official who has the relevant right. It is with this definition that the history of the holiday is connected.

Founded in the USA in 1974. On this day, newly elected President Gerald Ford issued a proclamation pardoning President Richard M. Nixon for wrongdoing in connection with the Watergate scandal. This scandal is connected with the presidential elections of 1972, and more precisely with attempts to install listening devices in the headquarters of the Democratic Party. It lasted almost 2 and a half years and ended with Nixon’s resignation due to the threat of impeachment.

The origin of the holiday seems controversial to many, but this day is a good opportunity to think about your feelings and try to be more patient and lenient. Relationships between people tend to deteriorate due to the accumulation of insults and humiliations. Forgiveness is an opportunity to get rid of negativity and experience happiness.
