Alexander’s day

Every year on March 28, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyr Alexander of Pamphylia, a priest in Sidi – Alexander’s day.

Alexander lived in the 3rd century, during the reign of Emperor Aurelian, a cruel persecutor of Christians. Saint Alexander was also captured and tortured in every way so that he renounced the Christian faith. In a miraculous way, the martyr steadfastly and courageously endured all the tortures. Then the angry pagans executed Alexander.

The people believed that on March 28, wolves rage and disturb sleep with their howling. It is forbidden to wash your hair on this day – it can lead to parting with a loved one. In addition, on Alexander’s Day, you should wear a pin so as not to be teased.
