World Asthma Day
World Asthma Day is celebrated annually on December 11. The corresponding day was established in 1998 on the initiative of the World Health Organization and is timed to the World Conference on Prevention and Control of Asthma, which was held in Barcelona.
Bronchial asthma is a chronic disease characterized by attacks of suffocation and wheezing of varying frequency and severity. Most often, the disease is recorded in children and young people. Statistics show that 10% of children suffer from asthma, less than 5% of sick adults. Ecology has a strong influence on the incidence of bronchial asthma, which is why the percentage of patients among rural residents is almost one and a half percent lower than among city residents.
World Asthma Day was created to raise awareness of patients, medical staff and society in general, improve medical care for patients and draw attention to this chronic disease.
By the way, in Ukraine there is an “Affordable medicines” program for certain medical medicines for patients with bronchial asthma, under which you can get the necessary medicines for free or for a small fee.
