Memorial Day of Saint Nicanor the Apostle
January 10 is celebrated Memorial Day of Saint Nicanor the Apostle. There is very little information about his life. But it is known for certain that he was one of the seven apostles who, after the execution and resurrection of Jesus Christ, united and began the deacon ministry. According to the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Spirit came upon them, so their faith could not be shaken or simplified.
After the crucifixion of the Son of God and his Ascension, a large number of supporters of the Christian faith appeared. But the persecution of the faithful by the authorities in Jerusalem continued for some time. They were persecuted and brutally killed for their love of Christ, so Nicanor was sacrificed to God, “like a lamb.”
The holy apostle, together with two thousand Jerusalem Christians, was killed on the day when the holy archdeacon Stephen was stoned to death.
