Ivan’s day

Every year on March 9, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyr and prophet John the Forerunner (the Baptist), who is considered the forerunner of Christ – Ivan’s day.

Ivan was born around 6 BC, led an ascetic lifestyle and preached baptism by repentance. By the way, it was he who baptized Jesus Christ. He died a martyr’s death at the hands of King Herod Antipas about 30 years old.

Long since Ivan the Forerunner they prayed for the health of children and the fertility of the earth, the saint also helped with headaches.
