International Stout Day
Every year on the first Thursday of November, the world celebrates International Stout Day. All fans of strong Irish beer enjoy their favorite drink.
Dark ale or porter began to be brewed in 1700. Beer became common among street vendors and porters of that time. The holiday was introduced in 2011 by Erin Peters, also known as the Beer Goddess. At first, the outstanding date was celebrated only in breweries, bars and restaurants. But then the holiday spread on Internet resources.
Over the years, the taste, strength, recipe, and color of the drink have changed. And no one can really explain the difference between a porter and a stout. In the 19th century, doctors recommended strong beer to their patients as a remedy with useful healing properties.
Craft beer has many fans. It is appreciated for its delicate taste, pleasant aroma of roasted malt with bitter notes of cold coffee. Today, English and Irish stouts are somewhat “lighter” than traditional porters.
