March 9 every year Barbie celebrates her birthday, because it was on this day in 1959 in the USA that Ruth Gendler created a doll named Barbara Millicent Roberts. In 2022, she will be 63 years old.

Ruth Hendler watched her daughter and realized that children lack a doll with an adult body and face to imagine themselves in the role of a woman.

The first long-legged model with the perfect figure cost $3, wore only a swimsuit with sandals and had a ponytail. Later, a variety of clothes and accessories went on sale, and in 1961, Ken, the boyfriend of the beautiful Barbie, was born. In 1973, the evolution of the doll’s image was carried out: the make-up was changed to a more natural one and the gaze became direct. Later, in 1975, Barbie smiled for the first time. The image of the doll was changed and completed many more times. It is interesting that in 2020, a Ukrainian Barbie appeared, the prototype of which was Olympic fencing champion Olga Harlan.

The creation of the doll marked the beginning of an entire era and universe Barbie: she is the main character of a large number of games and cartoons.
