• There is salt the only kind of stone that people eat. Its formation occurs under the conditions of interaction of an unstable form of metallic sodium with gaseous chlorine. But the composition of salt also includes sulfates and chlorides of other alkaline earth metals, impurities of bitumen, dolomite, etc.
  • In France, there is a salt of the highest quality, which is called Fleur de Sel. It is not used in the process of cooking, but only ready-made dishes are sprinkled with it. The high cost of such salt is due to the method of its extraction. For this purpose, special baskets are used, through which seawater is manually filtered, as the ancient Celts did.
