World Smoothie Day
Since 2015, many countries have celebrated World Smoothie Day on October 3. The initiator of this holiday is Ray Mehta, a molecular toxicologist and consultant on healthy eating. The purpose of creating a smoothie day is to convey to people how important a healthy diet is.
Smoothies – a thick drink, which can contain vegetables, fruits, berries, greens, nuts. Sometimes juices, milk, yogurt or ice are added. As a result, the drink looks like a soft, tasty puree. It is well absorbed by the body because the ingredients are finely ground.
A smoothie can replace one of the meals if a person wants to lose extra weight. The drink is low in calories, so a person is likely to feel hungry soon. Nuts and yogurt can be added to the smoothie to make the drink more filling.
For the first time, the word “smoothie” was mentioned around the 30s of the last century, although at that time the drink was not yet so popular. But advertising and active sales did their part – after the 60s of the 20th century, people became interested in healthy food and paid attention to the smoothie.
So that the smoothie was tasty and healthy
- Add flax seeds.
- Use a lot of fruits and berries. They will make the drink thick.
- As a base, use yogurt or milk instead of water.
- Make the smoothie cold, but not icy.
- Add nuts.
