World day for the protection of elephants in zoos
Every year on June 20, an important environmental event is celebrated – World day for the protection of elephants in zoos. This date was initiated by a representative of an animal protection organization in 2009.
Protection of elephants
Elephants – friendly animals that are capable of experiencing various emotions and feelings (offense, anger, joy, compassion, happiness, etc.). Animals have a good memory, can communicate even at a distance of 10 kilometers. It is interesting that an elephant can be both right-handed and left-handed. The presence of elephants in zoos leads to premature death. There are also frequent cases of harsh treatment of animals.
- Today, only 3 varieties of elephants remain (there were 40).
The purpose of the World Day for the Protection of Elephants in Zoos
World day for the protection of elephants in zoos aims to draw the attention of humanity to the problem of living elephants in captivity; involvement in the joint protection of these animals by improving conditions and, of course, emphasizing the need to move elephants to natural protected areas; raising awareness of these amazing animals.
Fundraisers, promotions, flash mobs, educational events, etc. are being organized until June 20.
