World Cerebral Palsy Day (World Cerebral Palsy Day)
World Cerebral Palsy Day is celebrated every year on October 6. The event was organized with the aim of highlighting the problems faced by people with this diagnosis and their families, raising awareness about the disease, because in many cases, ignorance of the causes of its occurrence leads to rejection by other people.
The organizers of the event claim that there are more than 17 million people with cerebral palsy in the world. Most cases of disability in children are observed as a result of this disease.
The disease is associated with damage to certain areas of the brain, which leads to disruption of the central nervous system. People with this disease have reduced or absent muscle activity, impaired speech, hearing and coordination of movements, sometimes there is a delay in intellectual development.
- In most cases, the disease occurs during childbirth. Cerebral palsy occurs in 1-2 babies out of 1,000 children under the age of 1. Premature children are especially at risk, in whom the disease is diagnosed ten times more often than in those born on time.
Although the disease is incurable, it is not a sentence. With early diagnosis, complex treatment and long-term rehabilitation, the child’s condition improves, he can become socially adapted and independent.
