Kaleidoscope Day

December 11 is celebrated Kaleidoscope Day. This holiday coincides with the birthday of the inventor of this unusual toy device, Sir David Brewster, who was born in 1781. For some time he studied theology at the University of Edinburgh, graduating successfully in 1800. David Brewster later became a priest and was at the origin of the Free Church of Scotland. Since 1801, he was actively involved in science, was a pharmacist, a doctor of law, a lawyer, and was interested in the study of optical phenomena, which allowed Brewster to create a kaleidoscope.

The optical device has gained popularity all over the world, because it allows you to create original kaleidoscopic images with a simple touch of the hand. Incredible symmetrical patterns are formed inside the special tube, which you never get tired of watching. At first, all of Europe was fascinated by kaleidoscopes, and then the toy found its way to other countries. They are still engaged in the creation and improvement of optical devices. In 1986, inventions in this field became a true art, and the Brewster Kaleidoscope Society was even created.
