International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Rwanda
Every year on April 7 we celebrate the International Genocide Remembrance Day in Rwanda. The event was established by the United Nations in 2003, on December 23.
From April 6 to 7, 1994 in the African country of Rwanda as a result of the coup, representatives of the Hutu people came to power, and they began to exterminate the Tutsis, the second largest ethnic group. During the genocide, which lasted 100 days, about 800,000 people were killed. Representatives of the Hutu people brutally killed Tutsis even in schools and churches.
