Independence Day of Greece
Annually on March 25 Greece celebrates Freedom Dayand because it was on this day in 1821 that the Greeks declared their independence from the Ottoman Empire and started a revolution (actually, independence was recognized only in 1830). The holiday is also called Day of National Revival of Greece. The event was officially established and celebrated for the first time on March 27, 1828.
Greece is a country of freedom-loving people, creative, scientific and sports heritage. The Greek language has existed for about 4 thousand years and is one of the oldest languages. The country is washed by three seas at once: the Ionian, the Mediterranean and the Aegean.
Greece has been a member of the European Union since 1981. The population of the state is approximately 10 million. Greece has many important historical monuments on its territory (Parthenon, Theater of Dionysus, Panathinaikos Stadium and many others). In addition, of course, it is necessary to mention that Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
