World Choral Singing Day

Every year on the second Sunday of December, the whole world celebrates Choral Singing Day (Choir Day).

Before this holiday, choral groups organize concerts with the aim of spreading this type of art. Choir Day allows everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of music and singing, and to congratulate the choristers on their professional holiday.

A choir is a group of singers who perform a vocal work together, while it is not necessarily accompanied by music, but can be performed a cappella, that is, without instrumental accompaniment. The classification of choirs is very large: by composition (men’s, women’s, children’s, etc.), by number (small, medium, combined, etc.), by manner (academic, folk, pop) and by purpose (church, professional, amateur, operatic, educational).

Choral art is considered the most popular type of music, which dates back to ancient Greece. This type of singing develops memory, hearing and intonation. The choir unites people, educates communicative character traits, hard work and patience. It has been proven that singing improves general well-being, relieves pain, gives a good mood and a lot of pleasure.
