Martinian day

The Orthodox Church celebrates February 26 every year memory of St. Martinianus of CaesareaMartinian day, who was a Palestinian hermit and possessed the gift of healing. Martinian is known as a person who knew how to resist temptations and guide others to the true path.

St. Martinian of Caesarea is considered patron of family loyalty. On Martinian Day, it is customary to invite faithful friends to visit and ask for help from the stars in the sky, because it is believed that the stars are the souls of deceased relatives. On February 26, it is strictly forbidden to gossip, sew, spin and knit.

  • Gloomy weather portends a rainy spring.
  • Dry and frosty – we are waiting for a hot summer.
  • If there is no snow, the spring will be warm.
  • If there is snow, then we are waiting for a cool and rainy spring.
