International Day of Jugglers

Every year on April 18, the world celebrates a creative and fun professional holiday – International Day of Jugglers (International Juggler’s Day).

Who are jugglers?

These are people who have incredibly developed manual dexterity. They skillfully use this skill in order to rhythmically throw and catch objects, i.e. juggle. Most often they juggle with balls.

Idea jugglery appeared in ancient times, most likely in Egypt. Later, ancient Chinese warriors used weapon juggling as a method of intimidating an opponent. For example, the warrior Lang Zi had the ability to throw as many as seven swords at the same time. During the Middle Ages, juggling became a circus genre, which is why it is included in the list of the oldest types of circus activity. Now juggling is often an addition to clowning, acrobatics, training, etc.
