I dug a day
People celebrate January 3 I dug a day. The holiday takes its origin from the church day of memory and respect of Blessed Prokopius of Vyatka, a famous minister of the Dormition Monastery in the 17th century.
Procopius was born into a family of righteous Christians. At the age of 12, he was struck by lightning while working in the field. After the boy regained consciousness, it became clear that his brain was damaged. Procopius tore off his clothes, wandered around without clothes. The parents sent the boy to the Assumption Monastery for treatment, where he was read with prayers. In his youth, Procopius had the gift of foresight, he predicted illness and recovery, warned of fires, and even gave the date of his death. At the age of twenty, they tried to marry the young man against his will, but he fled to the Dormition Temple, became a monk, but lost his mind again.
- In the people, on this day, the peasants checked the stocks of hay and straw, chased mice in the barns, and stirred the grain. The girls stayed at home and diligently swept the floors: the more grain is swept, the happier life will be.
