The birthday of the diesel engine

Happy birthday to the diesel engine January 28 is considered. It was on this date in 1897 that the German engineer and inventor Rudolph Diesel completed successful tests of his invented diesel engine. He considered the internal combustion engines available at that time to be too imperfect due to their low efficiency. The efficiency of his invention was twice as high. Already in 1898, serial production was established.

In diesel engines, fuel ignites under the influence of pressure in the cylinders. The diesel mixture is called diesel oil, it is much cheaper than gasoline. An additional advantage is unpretentiousness, economy and simplicity. Today, diesel fuel is mainly used for refueling special equipment, railway and sea transport.
