December 16 is commemorated the day of the memory of Reverend Sava Storozhevsky. During his lifetime, he was one of the first followers of Serhiy of Radonezh. Even after the death of the venerable hegumen, his remains radiated healing power.

During his lifetime, Sava Storozhevsky was an example for many people due to his spiritual wisdom, simplicity and humility. For these qualities, he was appointed abbot of the Assumption of the Divine Mother monastery.

Later, Reverend Sava was offered the position of abbot in Sergius Lavra, where he ruled wisely and justly for 7 years. After that, he settled in a cell built for him on Mount Storozhevska near the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin. Residents of Zvenigorod were sure that the saint’s prayers saved their city from enemies.
