Yefim’s day

Every year on February 2, an Orthodox holiday is celebrated – Yefim’s day, which also has other names: Yukhim’s Day, Yukhim Winter’s Day, or Yukhim Zametilny’s Day. St. Euphemia lived in the 5th century, people respected him for his benevolence.

On Yukhim’s day, the weather was usually predicted until Shrovetide. In addition, folk legends say that February 2 is the coldest.

WITH Yefim Day associated with a large number of omens and superstitions. Here, for example, dreams on February 2 should be interpreted the other way around, they are necessarily omens.


If you want to avoid poverty, then do not pick up small money on this day. Lose a glove – there will be a difficult situation. It is not necessary to sing after the event, because the next day tears are possible.

Regarding weather forecasting: if it is sunny at noon, spring will come early; if it is windy, it will rain in the summer. A blizzard on February 2 heralds blizzards throughout the winter.
