World Honey Bee Day

It is celebrated on the third Sunday of August in the USA World Honey Bee Day.

History of creation of World Honey Bee Day

Previously, the holiday was called National Honey Bee Awareness Day and was celebrated on the fourth Sunday of August. The event was first started by a group of beekeepers who in 2009 submitted a petition to the USDA in honor of honeybees and beekeeping.

How is this honey event celebrated?

This day is celebrated by all beekeepers, beekeeping clubs, groups and associations, as well as just enthusiasts from all over the United States. They honor honey bees, recognize their great contribution to human life and call for their protection. On this day, they also express respect for beekeepers, for their difficult and important work. Their contribution to the breeding of healthy bee progeny, which will bring invaluable benefits to US agriculture, is recognized.
